Meeting Time 10:00 A.M. - Noon

The K9 Social Club uses an off-leash dog environment to promote positive dog behavior. We have federal tax exempt status.  All of our activities are aimed at helping people to have dogs that behave well at home and in the community.

The K9 Social Club is open to any dog owner. There is no cost for membership. While membership is totally free, we do accept donations. The field costs, insurance premiums, equipment purchases, website costs, treats, upkeep, etc. are all covered by donations. We are run solely by volunteers. Nobody gets paid.

We encourage you to spay or neuter your dog before socializing at any off-leash facility. An unaltered dog's arrival never goes unnoticed by the other dogs, and has been known to cause a difference in the whole group's behavior.  As of 2/10/2010 no dog over the age of one year old will be allowed to participate in the K9 Social Club unless it has been spayed/neutered.  Dogs under one year of age which are not altered may, at the discretion of management, be told to leave, and will not be allowed to participate again until the owner has provided evidence that the dog has been spayed/neutered.  This decision was made by management based on the safety of the owners and dogs.

We meet every other Saturday from 10 A.M.-Noon at Campus Park Field located at 2nd and H Streets in Oxnard, California. We have basic agility equipment available for anyone who wants to play around with it, but we are not a competitive or training group. During warm weather we frequently set up wading pools. Anyone who would like to arrive a little early to help set up the field, or stay a little late to take down the equipment is always appreciated.

Water is provided for the dogs to drink, you may want to bring a jug and bowl of your own. We also supply plastic bags, and encourage members to come prepared to clean up after their pooch. We want to leave the field in better condition than when we arrived.

 The K9 Social Club
has gone through several transformations, but has been meeting at the same location for almost ten years.  The site was once the athletic field for Oxnard Hight School.  There is no paid staff or trainers.  Everyone who works for the K9 Social Club does it for the love of dogs.  If you have a question with socializing or training your dog there is a good chance that someone on the field has gone through what you are going through.  You will find someone happy to share advice or listen to your story.

Spay and Neuter
We have information to share about the benefits of spaying and netuering your dog.  There are many reasons beyond pet overpopulation to alter your pet.  Oxnard has an excellent spay/neuter clinic at a very low cost.  If you have questions, don't listen to  what the neighbors or your friends say, get the facts.  Read the brochure and make an informed choice for the best interest of your dog.

There is always a risk when you allow your dog to play off-leash with other dogs, however, because the dogs who participate in the K9 Social Club are spayed/neutered we are able to work on socializing, without hormones interfering and causing otherwise calm dogs to act-out.
